Kindle or Kindle DX?

As many are aware the Kindle book reader is one of the newer and hotter items out there for those that are lovers of reading. This is a great tool as it is a digital book reader that stores books for people to read and is much more portable and lighter than any of the books that one would read on it.

The original Kindle was a digital book reader that was put out by Amazon in 2007 and the copies that were sold out in a matter of five and a half hours with the demand not being able to be met until April of 2008. The reader has a screen size of six inches on the diagonal and has a four level gray scale for reading. This original version is now available for sale at the price of $259 after the original price of $399 when it first hit the shelves in 2007. The Kindle is capable of holding up to 200 hundred non illustrated books without the use of a memory card. It has an internal memory of 250 MB. One of the major issues with the original kindle is the fact that it is not available outside of the United States because there were no providers available for supplying the data.

The Kindle DX digital book reader is the newest version of the Kindle. It was released in June of 2009 and it no longer requires a memory card to hold all of the non-picture books that one would need in order to be able to 3500 books. It is also thinner than the original version. The battery life on the DX will last up to 4 days while being in use online, and will last up to two weeks when it is offline. This is also the first model of the Kindle that features an accelerometer which allows the screen to rotate and maintain the display as the whole unit rotates.

Both of these digital book readers are able to access Amazon.com to allow for easy ability to get the items you want as Amazon has over 300,000 titles available. One is also able to access and get subscriptions to many different periodicals so as to be able to not have to get the magazines or papers delivered to your home. You are able to get your subscription right in the palm of your hand and subsequently you will be able to have all of the reading material you would need from books to magazines and newspapers without needing to actually buy them in hardcopy and a fraction of the original cost of the book.

So in essence the two are both good investments and provide much more portability of reading materials for both business and pleasure. The DX digital book reader seems to be the better choice at this time as it has more features with the rotating screen and the fact that the memory capability is so much larger without the use of any memory cards.
